CAN ANYONE PLAY ?
Yes, we are also open to the public seven days a week and all year round winter and summer, but prior booking on 01884 243333 (mornings) is essential. Our centre is ideal for touring teams or businesses who wish to provide their staff with an evening of fun together with a buffet meal and drinks from our well stocked bar. We can provide shoes and bowls as well as having someone on hand to give instruction.
DO WE ENCOURAGE BEGINNERS ?
Yes, the game of bowls is suitable for Ladies, Gents, the young, the not so young and those who are disabled. Everyone can play on an equal basis.
Newcomers can be sure of a warm welcome and the first introductory lesson if completely free.
The centre also has special sessions when novices can join in with others who are at the learning stage.
IS BOWLING A COMPETITIVE SPORT ?
Bowling is what you want it to be. You can treat it as a pleasant social pastime with friends or experience the excitement of the more competitive game.
You can play in friendly roll-ups to representing the centre in the more competitive games. Some may wish to remain a novice, advance to County or National standards, it is entirely up to you.
IS BOWLS A MINORITY SPORT ?
Nothing could be further from the truth, bowls is the second largest participant sport in th country, its popularity appeals to all ages and walks of life ... It really is “A SPORT FOR ALL”.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ?
It depends on whether you wish to join as a full member enjoying all the facilities the centre can offer. A full twelve month subscription is £65 and each session of 2 hours 15 minutes costs £2.60.
For those who wish to bowl on a day to day basis 50 pence is added to the session fee.
Full members are asked to conform in wearing white above the waist and grey below.
